About Our Project

Our group was awarded the Transdisciplinary Scholarship Connector Grant. This program is designed to promote initiatives that enable University of Calgary teams to explore societal questions, challenges and opportunities that demand a transdisciplinary approach. Transdisciplinary Connector Grants aim to support activities that help build new transdisciplinary connections. Click here to learn more about the U of C connector grant itself and how to apply.

Thank you for thinking about connecting with our team

We are excited to connect and explore the notion that The Sky is the Limit: The Remote Drone-Delivered Start-the-Breathe Project to Deliver Immediate Care At-the-Scene for Respiratory Distress. Below are pictures from previous work in hemorrhage control, lung ultrasound and the creation of a kit that could help a patient in respiratory distress.

Early on

Our group has been fascinated by the notion that health care can be brought to the scene of an injury or medical emergency utilizing telemedicine. In more recent works we have begun to try to understand how drones can be used to deliver live saving interventions.

Current

After using a drone to deliver hemorrhage control equipment to a simulated injured hiker and then delivering an ultrasound probe to perform lung ultrasound; our group is moving a step further, away from STOP the Bleed to START the Breathe.

June 14th, 2024 Come Connect with us

On June 14th, in collaboration with SAIT, researchers from the University of Calgary are coming together to discuss drone delivered health care and its potential impacts on remote communities. Below is a tentative agenda. If you would like to join us please register for our event. There is no charge to join us in person or online. We look forward to seeing you!
